At STAR Vets, advanced care starts with understanding. Our full IDEXX in-house laboratory allows us to run a wide range of diagnostic tests quickly and accurately, often on the same day, helping us reduce uncertainty and begin the right treatment sooner.

In-house testing enables us to assess many common problems promptly, particularly when your pet is unwell or uncomfortable and time matters.

What we can test in-house

Our IDEXX laboratory allows us to perform:

• Comprehensive blood testing to assess organ function, infection, inflammation, and overall health
• Urine analysis to investigate urinary issues and monitor long-term conditions
• Ear cytology, where samples are examined immediately under the microscope to identify bacteria, yeast, or inflammation and guide targeted treatment
• Other routine diagnostic tests that support day-to-day clinical decision-making

Having these facilities on site means results are available quickly, allowing us to tailor treatment plans without unnecessary delay.

When external testing is needed

For more complex or specialised investigations, we work closely with our trusted external reference laboratory. This provides access to advanced testing and specialist interpretation when a deeper level of analysis is required.
