Dental surgery and radiography

Healthy mouths matter

At STAR Vets, dental health is an essential part of your pet’s overall well-being. Dental disease is common and often painful, yet much of it can be hidden below the gumline, which is why thorough dental care and imaging are so important.

We provide professional dental surgery, including dental cleaning (both above and below the gum line) and extractions when needed, all carried out under general anaesthesia with careful monitoring and effective pain relief.

Why is dental radiography important for pets?

We use dental radiography (dental X-rays) as part of our dental procedures. This allows us to see what’s happening beneath the surface of the gums. We can see tooth roots, bone loss, abscesses, and hidden disease that can’t be detected by examination alone.

Dental X-rays help us:

  • Identify painful problems early
  • Decide which teeth can be saved and which need removal
  • Avoid unnecessary extractions
  • Plan safer, more precise dental surgery
  • Improve long-term comfort and outcomes

Without dental radiography, significant disease can be missed, leaving pets in ongoing pain even after a “routine” dental.

Comfort, safety, and long-term health

Before any dental procedure, we carry out appropriate health checks and discuss findings and options with you. After treatment, we provide clear aftercare advice and guidance on maintaining good dental health at home.

By combining skilled dental surgery with modern dental imaging, we’re able to provide dental care that doesn’t just clean teeth — but genuinely improves comfort, health, and quality of life.
